FAq about the allstar program

Q. Does everyone get placed on a team?

A. We place all students age 8 and under on a team according to their age, ability and skill level. Students 9-18 are also placed according to age, skill level, and ability, but they are only placed on a team if they achieve high enough auditions scores.

Q. Who judges your auditions?

A. Auditions are judged by a combination of our coaching staff and outside judges from the Albuquerque area. We make sure to bring people in that are qualified and have not been involved with a dancer’s instruction in order to give an unbiased score and average.

Q. How many teams do you have?

A. The number of teams we have each year depends on the number of dancers who audition, their ages, and their skill. We build teams around the USASF rules and regulations (considering age level divisions), likelihood of scoresheet success, and the ability to form positive team bonds. At maximum, we will have 7 teams, and at a minimum, 3.

Q. What is the time commitment?

A. Our allstar program is a competitive program. This program is for dancers and families that are fully invested in the world of dance and are willing to dedicate their time to the team for at least a full year. Our teams typically practice twice a week in addition to the required weekly dance classes. You should expect to be at the studio at least 3-4 days a week. Competitions & Exhibition performances are held 6 - 9 times a year, normally on the weekend.

Q. What is the cost?

A. We will release a cost sheet for your consideration, prior to any commitment you make.

Q. Do you practice in the summer?

A. We practice throughout the Summer session as well as attend a mandatory camp the first week of August. We do understand that family travel occurs during the Summer and will make some allowances for this as long as the travel is communicated with the coaches.

Q. Do you have fundraisers?

A. We will conduct one official fundraiser (sponsorship T-shirts) through Dimensions. However, we encourage you to conduct
fundraisers (bake sales, garage sales, etc.) on your own as well.

Q. How can I get more information?

A. We want you to know what you are getting into before you commit both time and money to this program. A comprehensive
parent/student information packet will be available April 1st. This packet can be emailed to you upon request. Please email beginning April 1st to get yours! We also conduct a parent information meeting on Tuesday, May 16th at 6:45pm. That will be your chance to ask questions and speak with the coaches prior to allowing your child to audition.
